And of course I like "Bridget Jones's Diary". And "Gone with the Wind"

'House of Flying Daggers', 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', 'The Hero'.

And I like musicals - they are usually funny, full of love and - of course - music.
'The Producers', 'Moulin Rouge', 'Cabaret', Russian operettas 'The princess of Circus', 'My Beautiful Lady', 'Silva', 'Carnaval Night' and others.

Waxa and Игрушка

What do you like about "Bridget Jones's Diary"? I like Rene Zellweger. I think she fits that role.

I have "God father" - all three parts in english. I've seen them a few times.
But these movies have realy hard place to understand, because of the acccents and slang.

There are two types of films: One of them can be translated easy, others can't. :-)

What movies could you recommend to watch for having practice in english?

to ТатьRна. I`ve red the book the first. I liked it, so I wanted to watch the movie. The book "Bridget Jones's Diary" is very funny, espessially about blue soup. The film is romantic, and the book is funny. But I like Colin Firthfor his appearance and Hugh Grant for his accent, very very lovely accent.

I don' know whether it would fit for practice of English, but "Love actually" is a wonderful movie to watch & enjoy both Huge Grant & Colin Firth & many other actors & things.

Игрушка,

I also read "Bridget Jones's Diary", & it was a really nice experience, although it seemed to me that the movie itself was more romantic & had a nice hapy-end, while in the book the ending was pretty sad.

As to me, It's easier to remember the words and phrases when the movie is not too serious, light, usually it's a comedy. I mean, a head is not overloaded with serious stuff, and can catch the words. When you watch the movie several times, some phrases stick into your mind. Romantic movies are also good. Basicly, everything you like and will watch with pleasure.

For me it was 'The Pirates of the Carabian', 'Men in Tights', 'The Mask' and others. The animated movies are also good, becuase they are easy and catchy. For example 'The Lion King', 'The Road to Eldorado' and others.

I would say that the movies with a lot of slang, or when they speak too fast, or in too low voice, or with the accent, like 'God Father', 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch' - is the advanced level icon_smile.gif

I didn`t see any films in English because I don`t know English very well and it`s very difficult for me to understand quickly speaking people.
But I hope to see in English my favorite films - "Gone with the wind", "Titanic", "Lord of the Rings". My nickname Rose is the name of the character of "Titanic".

When I was ten years old, I have seen the Disney`s fairy-tale about (it`s ridicular, but I don`t know the correct name in English) - about the Snow Maiden and seven... I don`t know who... icon_lol.gif ("Белоснежка и семь гномов").
I was delighted! This film is so magic and beautiful!

Here's a short movie

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/stuart_brown_says_play_is_more_than_fun_it_s_vital.html

It's not exactly a movie, it's a speech about play in people life.
Good thing - it has optional subtitles in English and in Russian.

My favorites - Sound of Music and My Fair Lady. My best recommendations! The last especially - cockney for free! icon_smile.gif

An advice to those who is not good enough in English: look films with subtitles. 2-3 reviews and you will not read 'em but in some special places. Also I've heard about such method: write full sountrack of your favorite film to your mp3-player and listen it all day around. They say it's funny and very effective way to speaking language understanding. But I've never tried
